Grove City College to present “The Apple Tree” musical

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Temptation, love and jealousy are wound together in the musical comedy “The Apple Tree,” to be performed by students at Grove City College from Nov. 7-10, 2012. The three-act show will begin at 7:30 each night in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.

With a score written by the composers of Fiddler on the Roof, this show offers witty dialogue and a humorous twist on familiar stories. The stories of Adam and Eve, The Lady or the Tiger? and Passionella are woven together by common themes as each character seeks the satisfaction they desire.

The lead performers include senior Joel Richardson of Butler, Pa., as Adam and Flip; junior Emily Peterson of Phoenixville, Pa., as Eve, Ella and Passionella; senior Stephen Horst of Woodbine, Md., as Snake, Balladeer and Narrator; sophomore Andy Hickly of Pittsburgh as U.S. Snake, Balladeer, Narrator, Employer and Reporter; freshman Elisabeth O’Brien of Andover, N.J., as Barbara; sophomore Jack Krimmel of Dillsburg, Pa., as Sanjar; and sophomore John Warren of Hiram, Ohio, as King Arik and Producer.

Betsy Craig ’77, professor of English and theatre, is directing the production, with the assistance of seniors Gerald (Jack) Hickly of Pittsburgh and Laura SantaMaria of Dillsburg, Pa. Senior Katie Hammes of Milford, N.H., will serve as stage manager.

The music director is David Barron with student musical director junior Sarah Boice of Washington, Pa. The choreographer is senior Joel Richardson of Butler.
