« BackCollege celebrates with Marine Corps at 237th Birthday Ball
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College will help honor American heroes at the 237th United States Marine Corps (USMC) Birthday Ball luncheon on Nov. 7, 2012, in the Colonnade of the Carnegie Alumni Center on campus. A celebratory meal for attendees will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Featured speaker will be Lt. Col. Fred Bryan, USMC (Ret.). Doors will open at 11 a.m.; the event is free and open to the public.
Bryan most recently was commander, Contingency Plans Flight for the 609th Combat Plans Squadron, A3, with U.S. Central Command Air Forces. Now retired, he is the facilities director at Officers’ Christian Fellowship at White Sulphur Springs Conference Center in Manns Choice, Pa. He and his wife, Lee, have four children, including daughter Sarah, a Grove City College senior.
The luncheon will include celebrated USMC traditions such as a cake-cutting ceremony and the reading of Marine Corps Order 47. The 2012 Marine Corps birthday message will be shown in HD video, presented by the commandant and sergeant major of the Marine Corps, Gen. James F. Amos and Sgt. Maj. Micheal P. Barrett.
