College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Concert Band to perform spring concert

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Concert Band will present their first concert of the spring semester on Friday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ketler Auditorium of the J. Howard Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Concert Band are under the direction of Dr. Edwin Arnold, director of bands at Grove City College. Associate Director of Bands Dr. Joseph Pisano will also conduct the classical transcription of Toccata, composed by Frescobaldi.

The Wind Ensemble will open the program with Concert Prelude by Phillip Sparke and continue with a variety of wind literature, including A Copland Portrait featuring numerous themes by American composer Aaron Copland. The Symphonic Concert Band will present a variety of march music, classical transcriptions and Broadway music.

Several students will be featured soloists within the context of the spring concert, including: Caitlyn Bryant, alto saxophone; Rebecca Redmond, clarinet; Rebekah Dunlap, oboe; James Graves, trumpet; and Lauren Schmitt, flute.

Parking for the concert is available adjacent to the Pew Fine Arts Center and is also free of charge.
