Graham to serve as Grove City College Provost

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College President Richard G. Jewell ’67 recently announced that Dr. Robert J. Graham, provost at Waynesburg University, has been named Grove City College provost and vice president for academic affairs, effective July 1, 2013. Dr. Graham will replace the current provost, Dr. William P. Anderson Jr., who will return to the faculty full-time as a professor of sociology in January 2014 after having served the College as provost for 12 years.

“Dr. Graham is a talented chief academic officer with extensive experience as both a provost and dean,” Jewell said. “Grove City College is an institution animated by the principles of faith and freedom. As an individual of faith and a highly respected leader, Dr. Graham is uniquely qualified to lead Grove City College as we continue our legacy of providing students with rigorous academics, in a Christian environment, at a price that affords graduates the financial freedom to pursue their dreams.”

Graham commented, “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Grove City College students, faculty and administration as provost. Grove City College has a rich heritage of faith-filled excellence. I am proud to have been asked to play a significant role in this remarkable institution’s future.”

After serving for a year as acting provost, Graham served as provost at Waynesburg University from January 2010 to June 2013. He also served as professor of sociology from 1997 to 2008 at Lee University.

Prior to Graham’s time at Lee University, he served at the University of Cincinnati for five years, where he worked as a research analyst for the Institute for Policy Research and as a research associate for the Department of Family Medicine.

Graham holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Gerontological Studies degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
