College professor selected to guest conduct orchestra festivals

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Director of Orchestras and Instructor of Music at Grove City College Jeffrey M. Tedford ’00 was recently selected to guest conduct the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District Nine Orchestra Festival. The orchestra festival is comprised of 150 of the best string and wind players from northeast Pennsylvania, and will take place Jan. 22-25, at Forest City Area High School in Forest City, Pa.

In addition, Tedford recently conducted the Calvert County, Md. High School honors string orchestra with 80 string players from Nov. 13-15. Tedford has also been selected to guest conduct the Mercer County High School Honors Orchestra on Jan. 31, and the Glen Dale, W. Va. Regional Middle School Honors Orchestra on Feb. 14 and 15.

At Grove City College, Tedford teaches courses in instrumental conducting and string pedagogy and works with and observes music student teachers. Tedford performs regularly with the Grove City String Quartet and is the National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Representative for String Orchestra Education.
