Professorial pair honored for ‘newsmaker’ status
GROVE CITY, Pa. – A pair of Grove City College professors are among an elite group being honored next week in Pittsburgh. Dr. D.J. Wagner, professor of physics, and Dr. Fredric J. Brenner, professor of biology, are on the list for the 2014 Newsmakers Event Jan. 15 at Rivers Casino.
Wagner and Brenner have both been profiled in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s weekly Newsmakers column.
Brenner was featured in September 2012 after he received the Ann Rudd Saxman Conservation District Director Excellence Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts. Brenner has been involved with the Mercer County Conservation District for more than 40 years.
Wagner was the focus in October 2013 after she was elected to a two-year term as national president of the Society of Physics Students. She’s been involved with the organization since she was a sophomore at the College of William & Mary and has advised the Grove City College chapter since she joined the faculty in 2001.
The Newsmakers event is sponsored by the Tribune-Review and The Pittsburgh Social Exchange.
