College professor elected as State Music Representative
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Jeffrey Tedford ’00, director of orchestras at Grove City College, was elected by his peers to serve on the State Professional Development Council as the State Orchestra Content Representative for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).
“It is a true privilege to be selected by my peers around the state to serve the membership of PMEA and work with the national organization to provide a quality music education to students throughout Pennsylvania,” said Tedford. “I look forward to developing curriculum and providing professional development opportunities for my K-12, collegiate and professional music colleagues over the next two years.”
During his two-year term, Tedford will work with other content representatives as well as the state board to plan professional development activities and workshops to create new initiatives for the members of PMEA. In addition, he will be the state liaison to the National Association for Music Education and will receive and disseminate information concerning related events and activities.
PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of over 4,500 members dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. Today, the organization includes those engaged in music instruction at all levels, from preschool through college and university, as well as those in the music industry, merchandising and publishing. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
