Thomas Edison and Henry Ford - titans of invention, business and industry that changed the world we live in - were both great friends who shared a love of Florida in winter. After Edison purchased land on the Gulf Coast in the late 1800s for a winter home, Ford followed suit and bought adjacent property for the same purpose. These two early "snowbirds" enjoyed the winter months both in leisure and work, and their remarkable legacy can be felt by visitors to the estate.
