The Shirt History
The Grove City College “Shirt Project” was officially born in 2012
through the vision and leadership of Alumni Council President, Allyson
(Baird '88) Sveda. The idea was to create an official annual Grove City
College t-shirt to unify current students and alumni. Our goal is to get
as many alumni and students to purchase and wear the shirt each year –
to cheer on sports teams, to wear at alumni events, and to promote Grove
City College as a unified network. Over 1000 shirts were proudly worn by alumni, friends, and students in 2012.
2nd Annual Shirt Project
In February 2013, students were asked to vote on their favorite 2013
Shirt design. Voting was held on Friday, February 8 and resulted in over
1,300 votes! The above raglan baseball-shirt design was chosen, and it was available at the College
Bookstore on campus.
3rd Annual Shirt Project
In January and February, 2014, students and alumni were encouraged to
participate in The Shirt 2014 Design Contest. Submissions were narrowed
to three final designs to be voted on by alumni and students on Tuesday,
April 1 from 8 a.m. - midnight. A grand total of 1,876 votes declared a
winning design. The winning shirt, shown above, was designed by electrical engineering
major, Nate Bergey '16.
4th Annual Shirt Project
In 2015 we continued The Shirt Design Contest and received an impressive 31 submissions from alumni and students spanning the class years of 1968 - 2018! Submissions were narrowed down to five final designs. A grand total of 2,659 votes were cast - the most ever for our Shirt contest. The winning shirt, shown above, was designed by Communications major, Anna Mittleman '15.
We encourage all alumni, friends, parents, and
students to purchase the annual shirt, and show their Grover pride. Support the project by purchasing a t-shirt each year.
